DARK BLONDE is the artistic moniker of German singer, songwriter, and producer Birgit Fischer, whose music blends cinematic dark pop with elements of art pop, ambient ballads, and darkwave. Trained in popular music and musicology in Hamburg and New York, Fischer began her career as the lead singer of Motorsheep, earning early recognition with the John Lennon Talent Award 1997. Since then, she has developed a multifaceted solo path, collaborating with international musicians including members of Portishead, The Sisters of Mercy, and artists associated with Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel.
Her work as DARK BLONDE is shaped by themes of transformation and resilience, informed in part by her experience as a cancer survivor.
